Answer
What AI skills does an operations or project manager need now?
The AI skill an operations or project manager needs most is getting Claude or ChatGPT to do real, repeatable work. Then count the hours it saves. Start with one task each day, like sorting email. Last week 581 work emails came in, and my AI sorted 431 of them out of my way. Write the instructions once and reuse them. Keep promises, approvals and pricing with a person.

How to do it
- Use one AI assistant for one real task each day for two weeks, and note what worked.
- Pick your most repeated task, write instructions for it once, and reuse them each time.
- Separate procedure from judgment. Automate copying, lookup, formatting and checks. Keep promises, approvals and pricing with a person.
- Install three gates: one on the input, one on the output and one before any action. A failed gate stops the work.
- Move one workflow to draft and approve. The assistant drafts, and a person signs off before it goes out.
- Log the hours each workflow saves, so you have a weekly number to beat.
