Answer
How do I stop AI from making up numbers in my business reports?
To stop AI from making up numbers, make it check its own math against your records. My free MONEY REPORT file works in Claude or ChatGPT. You add your profit and loss, bank balance and open invoices as files or screenshots. Every total has to equal its parts, or it warns you. When a number has no source, it says so instead of guessing. At a second company, these checks caught a 22.8 percent pricing miss.

How to do it
- Give it the real files: your profit and loss, bank balance, open invoices and card spend.
- Have it add up every table itself and show any total that doesn't match.
- Have it look each number up in your own records and flag it when the answer is unsure.
- When an input is missing, the work stops and names what's missing. A date nobody gave reads no date said, never a guess.
- Test it on work you already know. Run the same real input through the old way and the new way, and compare every field that matters.
- Check any number, date or promise against the original before it goes out.

- The free MONEY REPORT file
One page that tells you if you're making money. Every total has to equal its parts.
- Bernan's Law Rubric
A missing source should fail closed instead of inventing a plausible answer.
- The free worksheet
Install three gates. A failed gate stops the work and names what is missing.
- Proof
At a second company, the same checks caught a 22.8 percent pricing miss on a retaining-wall job.
