Answer
Can ChatGPT or Claude price a construction job from photos and measurements?
Claude, an AI assistant like ChatGPT, can price a construction job from photos and measurements if the prices come from your own past jobs. On a walkthrough I take measurements and before photos and load them into Claude. It prices the job with a pricing engine I built from our historical data. My estimating team checks it. At a second company, an estimator built a five-scope estimate from 50 photos in 23 minutes.

How to do it
- On the walkthrough, take measurements, square footages, linear footages and before photos.
- Load the photos and measurements into Claude.
- Price it with an engine built on your own past jobs, so the estimate shows whether the job makes money after overhead.
- Test it on your past bids before you rely on it. At a second company, an estimator's tool failed 71 tests in a row against past jobs before it approved a bid.
- Have your estimator check the price before it goes to the client.
